Honourable Lautafi Fio Selafi Joseph Purcell

Lautafi Fio Selafi Purcell is the Minister of Commerce Industry and Labour and also Minister for Public Enterprises. He represents the Constituency of Satupaitea and this is his second Parliamentary term.  He was elected Minister for the Ministry of Public Enterprises in the previous Parliamentary term when this new Ministry was established. Prior to that, he was Associate Minister for the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.

Lautafi was educated at Chanel College, Samoa and St. Paul’s College in New Zealand before continuing on to Victoria University in Wellington. He had worked in the Justice Department in New Zealand as Prison Manager and continued his services as Prison Manager, Prison Inspector and Principal Policy Advisor under the Department of Corrections.  He was also a Prison Reform Consultant in Samoa. Lautafi is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Auditors and also affiliates with local and international associations and corporations.

He is married to Gisa Tagaloaataoa Lematua Fuatai Purcell and they have four children. They are members of the Catholic Church.
